Cecilia Charles
Form IV
Haya Tribe (Kagera Region)
Born 2 December 1991 in Sumbawanga
Favorite subjects:
Chemistry and Biology
Future dreams:
Cecilia’s biggest dream is to be a pharmacist because there are many people suffering from diseases, but medications in Tanzania are not very reliable. Cecilia hopes to help those in need. Another alternative for her would be to become a doctor specialized in stomach- and intestines-issues but if none of her medical plans should work out, she would also be interested in becoming a teacher for Chemistry and Biology, her favorite subjects.
Hobbies:
Cecilia enjoys singing, “making different steps of shows” and chatting with her friends when she has some free time in Bethsaida.
Her parents:
Cecilia used to live in her place of birth, Sumbawanga, until she had finished Standard 3 of Primary School in 2001. Then her family moved to Dar es Salaam where Cecilia’s father died in 2004, probably of TB. Soon after her mother got sick which is why she has never really been able to earn money for the family up to the present day. Cecilia is one of the few half orphans here at Bethsaida.
Her siblings:
Cecilia, being the first born in her family, has two sisters (Lidya and Issabella) and one brother (Steven).
Her guardian:
Of course, Cecilia’s guardian is her mother herself. They have a good relationship, but sometimes they only have very little food so that Cecilia has to help working during the her holidays from Bethsaida.
How Cecilia came to Bethsaida:
Since her father’s death Cecilia always had to help her mother selling fruits besides her school life. She also continued this after having finished her Primary Education. It was luckily then that her aunt found out about Bethsaida and arranged an interview for Cecilia, but short after she had left for Manyara, leaving her niece without any information about where to have that interview. So Cecilia, aware of the chance she had been given, started looking for the Agape Center on her own, found it and passed the interview and test very well.
What Cecilia wants others to know about her:
"I am a faithful and cheerful person. I like so much to study, but I need assistance so that I can reach my destinations. I will appreciate every kind of support from anyone very much!"
