Future dreams:
Fortunata wants to study hotel management because she loves cooking. She dreams about becoming a professional cook later. Before coming to Bethsaida she used to cook every day (she loves cooking and eating bananas most). Her aunt, whom she calls “young mummy” taught her how to cook. Fortunata says if she cannot study hotel management, something with computers, e.g. secretary, would be another interesting job.
Hobbies:
Fortunata likes playing netball very much. She loves listening to music, especially English Pop-Music. Her faourite singer is Maria Kerry.
Her parents:
Fortunata’s father died when she was 2 or 3, she sometimes remembers his face. Her mother’s mother was beating him one day so badly that he died but she doesn’t know why. She doesn’t know when and why her mother died but it must be long ago, because she can’t even remember her face.
Her siblings:
Fortunata has one older brother (Valeri), who works in a village and an older sister (Beatrice), who is a nun. She sees them very rarely.
Her guardian:
Fortunata’s guardian is her uncle who lives in Mbulahati.
How Fortunata came to Bethsaida:
After her parents’ death Fortunata lived with her grandparents but her aunt one day took her away from them because Fortunata was sick and very weak. It was her aunt, who heard the Bethsaida announcement in radio in 2005. Fortunata was very happy about it because all the time staying at home after finishing Primary School she wished to go back to school.
What Fortunata wants others to know about her:
Fortunata wishes to go to Form V and VI and hopes to be able to go to university later. She says: “I like to study more and more in order to be well educated in my life”. With the money she will earn later, she wants to support orphans and other people who are in need.
